Adventures in Chachapoyas

For our last session of "in-service-training" we headed up to Chiclayo, the capital of Lambayeque to learn about project management and the grant application process for our work in our sites. While in Chiclayo we had a chance to visit the famed "witches-market" where there are tonics and medicines to cure any ailment...

After project management training in Chiclayo we headed up to Chachapoyas to have our field-based training in a couple of volunteers sites. After a full water system inspection we installed clean-out valves, new sections of pipe, and a water meter near the reservoir.

The next day we got some hands on practice building composting toilets. Our group worked on the foundation for one while another group worked on the concrete slab for the second.

After training we spent a couple day touring around all of the beautiful sites in Chachapoyas! We ate some delicious food, and enjoyed the relaxed culture in Chachapoyas.

Our first adventure was visiting the ruins at Kuelap an awesome site that rivals Macchu Picchu for the amount of ruins that are still there.

After our adventure at Kuelap we visited some caves called "Quiocta" near the site of our dear friend! It was a lovely day hike and we got the whole caves to ourselves.
